PEOPLE'S GLOBAL EXCHANGE - Philippines (PGX) is a resource and service center which promotes international partnership for development and people's empowerment through people's exchange.
It works alongside people's
organizations and social movements in building channels for international cooperation and solidarity through exchange visits, development education, information sharing, dialogues and joint projects.
PGX is a non-profit organization duly registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission of the Republic of the Philippines.

GUIDING PRINCIPLES

PGX is founded on the convictions that:
* international partnership is a potent tool that should be developed and harnessed towards building a better national and global society
* such partnership respects, upholds and promotes sovereignty, integrity, self-determination and empowerment of peoples
* such partnership is geared towards exploring and actualizing alternatives to domestic and global inequalities and towards building a sustainable, peaceful, just and humane world.
* real partnership should be built on shared experiences, a common agenda and a shared responsibility in addressing the issues of social development and peoples empowerment.

CORE PROGRAMS

1) Global Partnership for Development
... provides peoples' learning exchange opportunities geared to:
* a better understanding of the host and visitors' contexts;
* exploring and establishing friendly and solidarity relations;
* evolving ways and means to nurture and substantiate relations; and,
* volunteers for Rural/Urban Development wherein exchanges undergo direct learning experience as they immerse themselves with rural/urban-based development organizations and join in their work with the people

Peoples' Exchange Modules Offered:
* Alternative Tourism for vacationers who wish to combine tourism and familiarization with historical and contemporary issues on the Philippines and its people.
* Solidarity Building for foreigners who aim to gain deeper insights on socio-political, cultural, and economic life in the community, regional and national arenas towards eventually engaging into concrete solidarity actions and programs for grassroots organizations and formations.
* Focused Tours for special needs like academic and grassroots research, study tour, fact-finding missions; and revolve around specific topics and sectors of interest; socio-economic work, environment, women, peasants, workers, militarization, human rights, etc.

2) Campaigns Program and Information Support
... attends to various types of information needs such as updating local peoples' organizations on development in the Philippines and the international solidarity network and conversely updating philippine solidarity groups or their network overseas on Philippine issues and movements. Also, advocacy campaigns are done to promote issues of national significance and encourage partners to launch complementary actions in support of their issues.

3) Curriculum Development and Training Program
... is designed specifically for local organizations to enable them to acquire knowledge, skills and capabilities in partnership building and international solidarity work. The contents of the training program are drawn from the consolidated practice in solidarity work undertaken by Philippine organizations. The program provides participants with a broader view of global realities and their impact on local issues and initiatives.

4) Alternative Trading Program
... assists in promoting and marketing indigenous products of communities and people's organizations. In the process, the history, culture and struggles of the people-producers can also be promoted.

5) Other programs include, but are not limited to: "Balik-Ugat" Program, which assists migrant Filipinos abroad to return to the Philippines to trace their roots, and Language Tutorial Program to aide foreigners in the Tagalog and Visayan dialects during their stay in the country.
